La preocupante realidad de más de siete millones de venezolanos que han abandonado su tierra natal resalta la profunda crisis que atraviesa Venezuela. Aunque la crisis interna es la razón predominante detrás de esta migración masiva, es importante reconocer que los motivos varían en diferentes ámbitos y etapas. En los albores del chavismo, muchos compatriotas decidieron emigrar ante el inminente desastre, tomando como referencia los acontecimientos en Cuba y reconociendo las similitudes alarmantes. Esta primera oleada migratoria se dirigió hacia países desarrollados, donde fueron recibidos con los brazos abiertos debido a su profesionalismo, carácter emprendedor y capacidad para adaptarse.
